Striving in the toughest conditions - Dandelions...

We know it is spring when the meadows turn to a sea of golden dandelion flowers only then to change to a fine mist of seed- heads that cloak the ground in a shimmering shroud.

This is a project with the collaboration of William Morris wallpaper gallery. As a designer I wish to create a different type of wallpaper with affordable prices that can be purchased by white collars.  Inspired by one of William Morris's most popular designs with its relaxing repeating curves this luxury yet affordable wallpaper is perfect to add some style to one’s home where they can chill and relax after a full day of hectic schedule in the city.

I got my inspiration of using the dandelions as the main subject of this wallpaper while I was strolling around housing areas at London. Grew all over the grass on the front yard, dandelions is an extremely robust plant and will thrive through any obstacles to live where ever their seeds land. It has proven to be one of the most adaptable survivors and will flourish through the most athirst conditions. As the wind blows, it also illustrates the start of a new life when it releases hundreds of seeds, towards a new place, starting something new.

I started the design by illustrating individual parts of the dandelions and drawing a few sketches. I then added and rendered them with different colours as an indication of a new life. After that I photocopy the drawings in different scales and created a collage with different angle and positions. Finally, I am satisfied with the final design where it consists of vertical stretch of dandelions illustrations, which can also be a symbol of growing and improving.
